The Tseshaht Market has teamed up with the Pepsi Bottling Group and we are now the Title Sponsors for the "Thunder in the Valley Drag Race".

The Alberni Valley Drag Racing Association is a non-profit organization that is trying to bring true 1/4 mile drag racing back to Vancouver Island. The Association's founder Gary Brett has worked tirelessly for years to get this event off the ground and in 2001 it happened.

In 2001 they used the Regional Airstrip for the races and will continue to do this annually. They encourage people or businesses to join the Association and take part in the decision making process going on right now. August of 2005 was our first taste as a supplier and lower scale sponsor at the drags. People from as far as Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington State, Oregon, Manitoba and all of British Columbia stopped by.

Soon you will see ads stating "Tseshaht Markets" "Thunder in the Valley"; We will be in papers, brochures, bill boards, radio ads; we will be everywhere!!!

There are some bleachers available for fans. These are not covered so you may want to bring a hat to "beat the heat". Feel free to bring your own lawn chair to set alongside the drag strip for great views

No dogs are permitted on the grounds. We also don't recommend you leave them in the car as last year's temperatures reached 30 degrees. Fido will be much more comfortable at home, away from the heat and without the noise of the race cars ringing in his ears.

Do you Love the sound of the engines! They can get loud. Earplugs are provided free of charge to all spectators if they desire. We recommend all children put in the plugs while along the strip.
